Hiring a bartender for a house party solves a real problem: most hosts cannot make consistent cocktails for a crowd while also hosting. But hiring one is not the only solution to that problem.
What a bartender actually does at a house party
A bartender's real value at a casual party is consistency and speed, not craft. Nobody at a house party is expecting a five-minute stirred cocktail. They want a good drink made fast, over and over, without the host disappearing into the kitchen every ten minutes.
How a pre-batched cocktail replaces that
A batch cocktail already has the ratio and dilution built in. Pour it over ice, add spirit if you want it, done. Any guest could do it. That is the entire point of batching for a party instead of a bar.
When you might still want a bartender
If the party is large enough that pouring becomes a full-time job on its own, or if you want the presentation and hosting presence a bartender brings, that is a different value than the drink itself. For most house parties under 30 or 40 guests, a self-serve batch setup covers it.
