Batch cocktails do not last as long as a bottled mixer from a liquor store shelf, and that is intentional. Fresh juice does not keep like a preservative-stabilized concentrate does.

The 72-hour window

Colorway batches are best consumed within 72 hours of delivery, kept refrigerated the entire time. Past that window, the fresh juice components start to break down and the flavor balance shifts, even if the drink is still technically safe.

Why the tradeoff is worth it

Shelf-stable mixers get their long shelf life from concentrate and preservatives, which is exactly what makes them taste flat next to a fresh-built cocktail. The 72-hour window is the cost of using real, fresh-pressed juice instead.

How to plan around it

  • Order close to your event date, ideally within the 72-hour window rather than a week ahead.
  • Keep the bottle sealed and refrigerated until you're ready to pour.
  • For weddings or multi-day events, coordinate delivery timing so the batch arrives inside the freshness window for when it will actually be served.
